Great video. Why does the draft determine that entry must be made going astern? Is it because there is less squat going astern?
Richard, thanks for your remark. The “what side alongside” question depends on the designated berth which in this case is in the end of the Amazonehaven basin. Berthing when going astern with these deep draft ships ( with limited UKC ) is much more controlled speed wise when going astern, compared to going ahead.
